Katie Currid

I’m an editorial and food photographer living in Weston with my husband, Tyler, and our little boy, Fox. I love to bake, buy rugs, go thrift store shopping, and listen to podcasts. I’m also the owner of Fizzolino, a Prosecco truck my husband and I bought when we lived in Italy and renovated with the help of our family.

To get to know Katie a little better, we asked her a few questions.

Where is your favorite place to shop in KC?

I’ve shopped at Urban Mining for years — it was one of the first flea markets I fell in love with when I was in high school and I’ve loved watching the booths and space evolve. They always have such great finds there!

Where would you most love to live in our city?

My husband and I live in our dream neighborhood, way up north in Weston. We talked about living in Weston for years, but always thought it would be a pipe dream — something for later in our lives. But we found the perfect home here last year and love this little town. We picked this town because it reminded us a lot of our time in Europe — we love that there aren’t any chain stores, that there are so many little artisans and that it’s very walkable.

What would you miss most about our city if you ever moved?

I lived away from the city for 10 years while working in Dallas, Portland and Virginia and living overseas in Italy with my husband. We came back because at the end of the day, we just love the people, the pace and the hardiness of the Midwest. You will never find people as kind as the people in Kansas City — and we know firsthand! Plus, we love being near our families.
