To get to know Tessa a little better, we asked her a few questions.

What do you love most about KC?

I love the historic architecture and bits of Europe tucked away in the city. Places like Monarch Coffee and Union Station really live up to the Paris of the Plains claim.

Where is your favorite place to shop in KC?

It is too hard to pick just one! I can't seem to walk out of Homesong Market, Dear Society, or Hand and Land without spending money.

What would you miss most about our city if you ever moved?

Although I moved back to Springfield, I visit Kansas City once or twice a season. I still get my haircut in KC (shoutout to Hair by Danielle Bruce). I always miss the local food and beverages the most. I often crave Messenger Coffee's biscuits with mushroom gravy, seasonal drinks at Monarch Coffee, lavender-infused magnesium water from Unbakery and Juicery, and biscuits with pimento cheese from Oddly Correct. My mom grew up in KC, so she introduced me to the classics at a young age, like petit fours from André's Confiserie Suisse and Minsky's Pizza. Those are the ultimate comfort foods for me!
