New in Town: Black Dolphin, Sundry, Nomad's

In the New in Town series, editor Anna Petrow shares a few spots new to the local scene– from food (of course), to coffee, shopping, and live music, the series will provide a glimpse into KC's latest and greatest.

Earlier this winter, KC jazz scene favorite Green Lady Lounge quietly opened up a sister bar next door– much to the delight of patrons, who can spill over to the darker, more urban space when it starts getting crowded on weekends. You can expect the same dirty martinis and great music– and lots of smaller table options, great for a date.

The Sundry

The Sundry.

After making its move from the Crossroads to the new Plexpod on 39th, the Sundry recently opened its doors: revealing a huge new space with tons of seating, expanded menu options, house-made sodas and a bar program. The tikka masala is still absolutely killer (much to this writer's relief!), and new offerings like the autumn pasta with butternut cream, caramelized onions and peas. Be sure to come back in the warmer months to enjoy the patio space out back.

Nomad's Coffee

New the 39th St, Nomad's Coffee is the answer to buzz & booze. The full espresso menu provides classic coffeehouse options, while the bar menu serves up classics and inventive drinks alike (try the Ancho Daisy with Espolon Reposado, Ancho chile, Grand Marnier, agave, lime and salt). The rich hue of the blue walls and glowing light streaming in from the huge window front make this an awesome place to post up for a few hours. And, who wouldn't want to reward themselves with a stiff drink when they wrap up their work? Bonus: they're open later than your average cup of joe– 10 pm during the week and midnight on weekends.
