Best Spots for Fall Foliage in Kansas City

It's that time of year again... the sidewalks are blanketed in orange and yellow and your morning walks are that much prettier. Fall doesn't last long enough so check them out while you still can!
Here's a few must see spots for beautiful fall foliage in KC.

Loose Park

With so many colorful trees, you won’t have a problem finding your own cozy spot to lay down a blanket and read a good book. My choice for the day: The Shining by Stephen King. A great fall read. It’s also the perfect park for getting some friends together and channeling your inner Mahomes for some football.

Weston Bend State Park

This scenic gem is just about a 40 minute drive outside of the city, but it’s well worth the trip if you’re seeking some picturesque views. Spend the day enjoying the crisp fall air on the hiking trails and find your way to the overlook for the best view in the park. While you’re in Weston, check out the local pumpkin patches, because nothing puts you in the fall mood more than hayrides and cider donuts.

The perfect spot for a Saturday picnic. The Nelson lawn is a pretty spot in all seasons, but this time of the year the tree-lined paths are glowing yellow and it’s not something you want to miss. While you’re there, go inside and enjoy the art! We’re lucky enough to have world famous art in our city’s backyard.

You’ll feel like you’re spending your fall afternoon wandering the grounds of Hogwarts. Mackay Hall, aka the castle, sits on the hilltop of the town, giving you full scenic views of the Missouri River and woods. Take a walk around campus or even head over to the nature sanctuary close by. End the afternoon walking down the streets of downtown Parkville for some old town charm with antique shops, local boutiques and a great pumpkin spice latte at Parkville Coffee.

Old Trolley Trail
5101-5131 Brookside Blvd

Stretching all the way from the Plaza to Waldo, you’ll be sure to get some fall charm on this colorful trail. It’s ideal for a biker, runners, and dog walkers alike. Bonus: you’ll pass by some of the cutest and coziest homes of Brookside.
