Midtown Magic with Little Fixations
Little by little I’m exploring this new neighborhood of mine, and each month I’ll be bringing you with me on a new adventure in Midtown. This month I wanted to share a new favorite combination: book browsing with a dose of caffeine!
I will never forget the first time I walked into Prospero’s Books. I was so overwhelmed in the best possible way by the magic of this space and the smell of pages & pages that greeted you when you walked in. Books were piled up on endless tables and shelves, that I wasn’t even aware there was an upstairs until about the third time I visited; and it is full of all the natural light goodness!
Now, I live walking distance from this quirky used bookstore, and every time I go I still can’t help but spend hours browsing, (most times I find myself a spot on the floor by the travel section and get cozy). The staff is always super friendly, and won’t really approach you much so you can shop in peace. — (I’d like to think they know they have a gem on their hands, and you very much come there to escape for a little bit). Truly cannot say enough positive things about my experiences here, and when you can buy an Ernest Hemingway novel for $3, it’s always a good day.
After Prospero’s, I head next door to Nomads! Since living in Midtown, there’s not been a time I’ve walked to the bookstore without coming and getting a coffee after. The best part though? If you’ve had a long day and you want to further escape into a good read while sipping on something a little stronger, they have cocktails, wine & beer as well! You’ll be greeted with some of the friendliest staff, as well as beautiful plant life & cozy corners to relax. The combination of these two spots have become an oasis for me, and I cannot wait for you to experience this 39th street magic someday soon too. Cheers to you, a good read & dose of caffeine!
