Meet the new European bistro-style concept from the talented minds behind The Russell.

KC has done it again! Or shall I say Heather White and Amante Domingo, the restauranteurs behind The Russell have done it again - meet Tailleur (pronounced Taylor), Kansas City’s dreamy bakery, lunch, happy hour, and dinner spot. Prepare to be transported to a cozy European bistro right in the heart of the city at 39th and Main. When I say I’d come for the interior design and ambiance alone I’m not exaggerating, but luckily for you (and all of us!) the food, pastries and wine list are equally as drool worthy.

If there’s one thing that draws me in somewhere new it is attention to detail and Tailleur is as chic as it gets. With the subtle equestrian nods, sophisticated Parisian antiques and Ralph Lauren vibes it’s hard to believe you’re in the Midwest. The second story boasts a more intimate lounge style seating area with an eclectic mix of vintage loveseats and chairs, perfect for your next soiree. Heather and Amante are also hoping to start a high tea serving in the space – stay tuned! Tailleur also has an inviting outdoor heated patio that comes with tableside monogrammed blankets for those chilly fall nights. They’ve truly thought of everything, and I’ve shamelessly been back three times since I first discovered it several weeks ago. It feels like such a delicacy while also feeling like you just walked in to that one friend’s house who has amazing style, is a fabulous cook and always entertains flawlessly.

Ok ok enough about the space itself, let’s get to the meat of this article – the menu! No pun intended but with grilled filet, prime rib, braised duck, steamed mussels, and rack of lamb all paired with fresh and seasonal vegetables, quiche, soup and salads there is definitely something for everyone. I mean, even the bread is homemade - don’t skip it. I think it’s fair to describe the overall offerings as French comfort food and you will not leave hungry. Whatever you order, make sure to save room for dessert!

Tailleur is located at 3933 Main and open Monday – Saturday from 11am – 9pm. There is a dedicated parking lot in back and don’t let the construction deter you!
