Drinking Coffee in Kansas City: Oddly Correct

We’re reviving a series that helped launch Explore– we take our coffee seriously, over here!

A staple in the Kansas City community, the team at Oddly Correct had built a name on simplicity in their high-quality espresso offerings for eight years on Main Street. Nurtured by artists, the brand became synonymous with top-tier caffeine experiences in the area.

The shop’s location at 41st and Troost Avenue - which they relocated to in 2021 - somehow has an even more comfortable, welcoming vibe than its original location at Main and Westport Rd. The property they converted into the coffee shop has interesting nooks and crannies, incredible natural light through multiple windows all the way around, and quite a bit of quirk to its design.

Art for sale - and beautiful wall paintings - covers every inch of wall space, giving character in droves and layers to each vantage point.

Straight inside the front doors is a rack of clothing for sale, amidst a little maker’s mart.

You can purchase Oddly Correct beans from the wall across from the registers. Plus, the shop has one of the most progressive to-go drink programs in the metropolitan area. Your to-go container is a glass jar, and you are charged an extra $1 at purchase. If you return it, you can get your $1 back or re-use it!

There is enough big, open space to brew beans all day long. If you happen upon the shop on a beautiful day, the garage door may be open, the familiar and warm scent of roasting beans wafting down the street.

With indoor and outdoor seating - and a phenomenal house caramel sage latte I can’t get enough of - Oddly Correct is an oddly wonderful stop any day of the week.
