Have you ever been to a farmers’ market? Better question is have you ever be the Overland Park Farmers’ Market? If not, you are in luck because they are still open on Wednesdays and Saturdays until November 16th!

The Downtown Overland Park Farmers’ Market has been running for over 35 years—so amazing! There are several local vendors that offer customers a variety of products including fresh produce, local food and a good time! I love going to the farmers’ market because it helps you eat local, shop in-season produce, and support your community!

Know before you go: most booths accept cash are card (but if they do not accept card the Overland Park team has coins you can buy with your card in exchange). Also, there are free butcher services on veggies at the Culinary Center right across the street!

Fuel up at The Wild Way. Iced coffee and lattes are my jam, if you like it sweet they have you covered, and if you like black coffee they’ve got your back! You can’t go wrong when you try them out!

The Wiener Wagon serves amazing hand-crafted sausages. The owner curates each recipe, everything from beer brats, to beef hot dogs, and vegetarian options. You can purchase them to-go as well!

I love that the market always has some type of entertainment. It ranges day to day, you could see a one-man band, a high school band, or even a pianist. They are always looking for a way to include the community.

You can get seasonal decor at the market as well! I picked up these beautiful and affordable flowers up on my birthday! You can’t get a bouquet like it for the price. Simply beautiful!

I asked the lady making my bouquet their process of getting all the flowers to the market. She expressed that they start the process on Thursdays, they go out and cut all the blooms, Friday they load and Saturday they arrive at the market! The labor they put into their work is incredible.

I asked local shoppers some questions about their experience at the market.

What is your favorite thing about the Downtown Overland Park Farmers’ Market?

“I love that it is within walking distance of my house and I can bring my family and we can spend the afternoon here, eating lunch, supporting local and the kids can dance.”

How do you choose which vendor to buy from?

“It really comes down to price, quality and variety. You can’t really go wrong with any vendor here! They all have such a large variety when it comes to produce.”

When is the best time to come to the farmers’ market?

“Usually I come early to the farmers’ market to get first pick, if you stick around later you will see that a lot is either picked over or completely gone!”

Did you come to the farmers’ market today with something in mind you were going to make?

“Salsa! There is nothing like fresh salsa from the farmers’ market.”
