While the dog days of summer have slowly slipped away, there is still so much great Midwest weather ahead to hit up a patio with your furry friends! Crisp fall days and nights with your scruffy sidekick coming right up. Kansas City has so many wonderful spots to explore and the only thing that could make it better is being able to enjoy it with your pooch. To help you out, I have compiled ten dog friendly patios spanning from River Market to Waldo below. By no means is this list exhaustive but I hope it encourages you to branch out with your dood and get outside together! Let me know of any favorites I missed in the comments!

BarK, River Market

I think this one goes without explanation and had to be first on the list. A dog park plus full-service bar and restaurant. Say less! Anyone can visit BarK without a dog for free and you will need a membership or guest pass to visit with your dog which you can purchase online before your visit. You can even leave your dog playing in the park under the supervision of their Dogtenders while you catch up with friends or grab food and drinks. Make sure to check out their FAQs here to plan your trip!

Café Ca Phe, Columbus Park

Café Ca Phe is two months into their brick and mortar and already well known for their inclusivity – which includes pups! They are a full-service Vietnamese coffee shop open from 7am – 8pm every day except Tuesday. Go for the Hella Good Latte and stay for the vibes and community!

Casual Animal Brewing, Crossroads

I love Casual Animal because not only do they have a small patio they actually allow dogs inside! They have an amazing, welcoming space full of natural lights and greenery. I recommend the Local Motive IPA!

La Bodega, Crossroads

If you haven’t experienced La Bodega’s happy hour you are seriously missing out on some of the best tapas in the city!  Dogs are allowed on the sidewalk patio and since tapas are meant to share your canine companion will love being your plus one. Mix up your usual coffee shop and brewery rotation with some Spanish flair!

Brewery Emperial, Crossroads

Not only does Brewery Emperial brew some incredible local beer but they also have a full service menu as well! I love this patio as a dog friendly option because it is huge and enclosed by a fence, so you have extra peace of mind bringing your fur baby.

Made in KC Trolley Cafe, River Market

Quintessential KC! The ambiance is on point sitting outside of a retired streetcar in one of KCs oldest neighborhoods and I love this option because the trolley has a window to order directly from the patio without going inside. Pack a book and enjoy the people watching. Added bonus – you’re only steps away from Betty Rae’s, two for one with this spot.

Westside Local, Westside

Westside Local is one of my favorite restaurants (I dream about their jalapeño popper grilled cheese) so the fact that their patio is dog friendly should make your next lunch or dinner outing a no brainer! The other great thing about this spot is that their patio is really more of a covered beer garden so you’ll be able to enjoy it later in the season. Such a versatile spot for brunch, dinner or just grabbing a craft cocktail or drink with your pup!

Char Bar, Westport

An amazing patio for hounds AND humans right in the heart of Westport! I love this option for all their yard games and of course I had to include a bbq option. Westport is super walkable with tons of patios so make it a day!

Kansas City Bier Company, Waldo

A traditional German Biergarten serving beer and small plates. This spot is also very walkable right off the Trolley Trail and has a designated dog seating area so you are guaranteed to make some new friends!

Mean Mule, Crossroads

A dog-friendly company through and through– local fans will recognize the owner’s pup as an unofficial Mean Mule mascot– this family-run distillery is dog friendly, with great patio seating out front and a staff that loves to come meet the pups! You can even buy bandanas out of their vending machine on-site: lookin’ good, doggo!

Bella Napoli, Brookside

A family-owned Italian deli, restaurant and grocery that has been a staple of the Brookside community for over 20 years. Warm up on a chilly fall day with heaping plate of warm lasagna, espresso or a glass of red wine from Italy. There is plenty of sidewalk seating (dogs are only allowed on the sidewalk, so a pro tip is to call ahead and check on wait times for those tables). If you live in the neighborhood, it would make a great walk there!

Rieger’s Electric Park, East Bottoms

Co-owner Lucy Rieger likes to joke that they built this patio specifically for their distillery dog, Pepper– and you can tell it was designed with our canine friends in mind! With tons of outdoor seating, fire pits, and even dog bowls, this is a wonderful place to post up with your pup and enjoy some brilliantly crafted cocktails. O, so good!

Enjoy the rest of patio season with your pup– and even when those cold fronts move in, it’s a good excuse to bundle up– so tag us in your doggie adventures and have fun!!
