Hola peeps! Well, Spring is finally here! Hopefully I haven’t spoken too soon? You can never tell with this Midwest weather. Anyways, this article is for all my fashion peeps, the bridal fashion peeps to be exact. I’m excited to introduce y’all to an amazingly talented designer. I know wedding season is quickly approaching, and all you soon-to-be brides need to read all about Èlon Kebede!
I met the gorgeous and talented Èlon at an event thrown by Jennifer Lapka in honor of Èlon. We all came together to toast Èlon as the new executive director for Fashion Arts. If you know Jennifer, you know she throws the best parties. It took place at Corbin Bronze. Kebede showed up in an ethereal fabulous white caftan like ensemble. Since I got there a little earlier, I had to take advantage of chatting with her to know more about her before the rest of the guests arrived.
Èlon was raised by Ethiopian parents. She grew up balancing two cultural worlds…one rooted in tradition, resilience and community and the other shaped by contemporary American life. This dual perspective became foundational to her design sensibility. Also, influencing her appreciation for contrast: structure and fluidity, history and modernity, restraint and drama. All major components in the world of fashion. From an early age Èlon was drawn to couture, not simply as luxury but as an art form. As an adolescent she was captivated by the precision, patience and emotional power behind finely made garments. Couture represented intention, mastery and storytelling. All values that would later define her own work.
What began as an early fascination has grown into a clear and intentional creative vision. ÈLU by Èlon is recognized for refined silhouettes, meticulous draping and a clean yet expressive aesthetic that transcends trends. Each garment honors the art of slow fashion, cemented in the belief that garments should hold meaning, and be designed to be experienced, remembered and most importantly…cherished.
Beyond design, Èlon’s vision for ÈLU by Èlon extends far beyond the runway. At the heart of the brand is a deep commitment to purpose and global impact. Kebede has long held the goal of using profits from her work to help build schools in Ethiopia. She wants to create access to education and opportunity for future generations. She is guided by gratitude for her heritage and a commitment to give back to the communities that have shaped her and her deeply personal journey.
This philosophy positions ÈLU by Èlon as more than a luxury fashion label: they are a purposeful and driven fashion house with global outlook. Each collection reflects a balance of elegance and intention, proving that luxury and responsibility are not mutually exclusive. Through her work, Èlon challenges the industry to consider how creativity can uplift, connect and empower. That ethos will come to life at the ÈLU by Èlon Spring/Summer 2026 Bridal Fashion Show, the brands first solo runway presentation! The show will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at The Bardot. The show will debut Illuminè, a collection that embodies radiance, sophistication and celebration. Guests can expect an immersive evening highlighting couture craftsmanship, innovative design and the values that define Èlon Kebede. The runway will serve not only as a visual experience but as a reflection of Èlon’s journey and vision.
As a first generation Ethiopian American, Èlon Kebede is the founder to keep your eye on. Witness her creative direction of ÈLU by ÈLON, and the storytelling, craftsmanship and intention behind it for yourself. Tickets for the show can be found on www.elubyelon.com under the “Events & Experience” page. On a personal note, it gives me great pleasure to be sponsoring this beautiful bridal fashion show. I will see you all there!
“My work is deeply shaped by heritage, identity and a belief that fashion can serve as both art and impact.” - Èlon Kebede
