Campers, there’s another Front Range in town!

I sat down with some of the folks behind Waldo’s newest coffee shop, Front Range Coffeehouse and Provisions. Fairway fans already know and love their cozy A-frame inspired hideaway, where customers can enjoy coffee all day long, and wine, beer and cocktails in the evening. Read on to see what’s new at the latest spot, as we chat with Made in KC co-founder Keith Bradley and Front Range Waldo’s manager, Morgan Westphal.

What made the Made in KC team decide to expand this concept into Waldo?

“An element that Tyler (co-owner of Made in KC) and myself love about the new Front Range is that it's in our own backyards. I'm just two blocks away and Tyler's not too much farther than that. It's been very fun for us to see our friends and neighbors walking about Brookside and Waldo with Front Range branded cups in their hands.” -Keith

What are you particularly excited about for this location?

“We are really excited to expand the Front Range Coffeehouse and Provision concepts. It's been well received in Fairway and we are excited to see it become another neighborhood's cafe as well. What we are even more excited about is the space that we are in. Not only is it larger in size than the original, but it's going to allow us to realize the full vision of what we hope the Front Range concept to be.  The space allows us to have a full cafe, full bar (coming soon), ice cream, and a full gift shop full of everything you didn't know you needed.” -Keith

So, tell us a bit more about the full vision: are you hoping to collaborate with local Waldo businesses in any way at the new location?

“I most definitely want to have pop-ups at this location. It's the perfect neighborhood for it. I have been in communication with local florists, local farm fresh eggs, and even Brookside Ceramics (right around the corner) about possible pop-ups this summer. Dates are TBD, but stay tuned! This location's size is perfect for pop-up weekends with multiple vendors and this neighborhood is constantly asking about events and things like that which makes me very excited. I think with how new we are it's a great opportunity to try different things and see what vibes with this neighborhood. Being a musician myself I would love to try to have some live music nights in the future. I think showcasing local businesses as well as local talent is so important.” – Morgan

Should customers expect any menu deviations from their favorites over at the Fairway location?

“As for our menu, we plan on keeping it consistent with the original Front Range in Fairway, with one exciting exception… we have ice cream! Right now we are showcasing One More Scoop, a creamery based out of Belton, MO. I plan on showcasing a different local ice cream shop either monthly or bi-monthly. Fairway Creamery is our next feature after we sell out of One More Scoop. I have also been in communication with Betty Rae's up in River Market about getting a custom Front Range flavor that we would carry all the time, and would be special and unique to our shop.”

With summer around the corner and a liquor license in the works, the latest location of Front Range will be a perfect spot for neighbors to camp out, drink up and enjoy! Make sure you’re following along on social for updates about events, pop ups, and sweet summer cocktails to come!
