The Made in KC Marketplace at Lee's Summit

The newest addition to the Made in KC family is now open: The Marketplace at Lee’s Summit! Inside you’ll find all your favorite Kansas City goods, 15 local vendor booths, a full cafe and bar, and more.

Every Made in KC team email starts out with our Mission Statement:

First and foremost, Made in KC is a platform for makers. It is our mission to cultivate the creative community within Kansas City, in part, through curating the best assortment of local makers and artists and to provide them with a robust platform to reach customers throughout the city.

Derivative of this goal, it is also our mission to provide best in class service and an unparalleled shopping experience for local goods.

We believe that the Made in KC Marketplace is the fullest realization of this mission. With our first Marketplace opening on the Country Club Plaza in the summer of 2018, we provided local makers and artists the unique opportunity to have a shop in the city’s busiest shopping district, at a fraction of the cost and at a fraction of the commitment. Most retail shops require large financial commitments, ongoing payroll commitments, and stressful operational commitments.

We designed the Marketplace to serve artists and makers as much as it serves our customers. Without signing a multi-year lease, without committing to regular staffing, the Marketplace enables local entrepreneurs to showcase the full breadth of their product offering in a way that reserves their resources and their energy for their craft. Instead of running a shop, they continue to run their businesses.

For the customer, the result is Kansas City’s best collection of locally designed and/ or locally produced goods. With the opening of the Lee’s Summit Made in KC Marketplace, we hope to reach a new demographic while making it easier on the thousands of customers who’ve diligently driven all across the metro to support us. This latest iteration of our Marketplace concept is our most developed yet. While fundamentally the same, we’ve made dozens of small improvements that culminate in an engaging and inspiring shopping experience. Whether you live in Lee’s Summit or Lenexa, we hope you’ll come experience this new Marketplace!
