Looking for a spot to eat on a Monday can be tough in KC– so we’ve rounded up a few favorites for you!

Whether you’re looking for a lunch break to get you through the first day of the work week, a dinner to congratulate yourself for kicking off the week right, or just somewhere to grab some chow on a Monday— we’ve got your meal plan right here. (Of course, hours are subject to change + holidays, so it’s always smart to call before you go!)

BluHwy - 11am-10 pm

Monday night is their industry night, and if you fall into that category you’re in for a treat with drinks, apps and deals all night long! Their sister restaurant, La Bodega on Southwest Blvd, is open too (from 2 pm to 10 pm)– so pick a dinner spot, post up, and enjoy the good vibes.

Vietnam Café - 10am-7:30pm

Some of the best Vietnamese food in the city. Noodles in brown sauces, crispy eggrolls, and crunchy vegetables can be found throughout the menu. The casual diners have two locations in Midtown and the River Market. Don’t miss out on the pho!

Extra Virgin – 11:30am-9pm

Monday night is pizza night at EV, a once a week treat– and if you haven’t tried it before, be sure to add it to your list. Plus, deals on bottles all night long– did someone say rosé?

Pigwich - 11am-6:45pm

A sister business to the Local Pig butcher shop means that all meat served at this gourmet sandwich shop are locally sourced. The casual, counter-service joint offers a select beer menu and specialties such as meatball banh mis, cornflake fried chicken sandwiches, and a truffle and cheddar burger. Whatever their limited off-menu item special is, I trust them.

Thai House – 11am-9pm

A cozy, unpretentious restaurant serving up authentic Thai food and fantastic service. The absolute must-trys are the appetizer of crab rangoon and phad sea eaw entrée (flat rice noodles stir fried with baby bokchoy, broccoli, mushrooms, garlic, eggs, and smothered with soy sauce).

Thai Orchid - 11am-2:30 pm; 5-8:30 pm

Family owned for 32 years, Thai Orchid has been a staple in Mission, Kansas for decades and it’s easy to see why. Warm, inviting service inside, or hot and fresh takeout at home– you can’t go wrong with this spot on a Monday night.

Q39 - 11am-9pm

A can’t-go-wrong barbecue joint serving an elevated menu full of competition-quality meats. Both locations in Midtown and Overland Park have large dining rooms and laid-back atmospheres.  Pair a craft cocktail with the Best Wings on the Planet or burnt end sandwich topped with onion straws.

Café Gratitude – 11am-9pm

Café Gratitude is a vegan restaurant located in the Crossroads Arts District. The menu of locally sourced plant-based dishes is extensive but the delicious vegan desserts are not to be missed. Drink options include coffee, juices, wine, and beer.

Tailleur – 11am-9pm

Looking for a special occasion spot on a Monday? That can be a challenge, but this one’s a winner. With European vibes, an extensive wine list, and beautiful plates, Tailleur is the perfect spot to pretend you’re on vacation– after all, what is Monday without a bit of denial?

Gram and Dun – 11am-10pm

Residing within the bustling Country Club Plaza, Gram and Dun is an upscale dining experience that dishes familiar favorites such as chicken and waffles for brunch and burnt end mac and cheese for dinner. The large patio pairs well with the libations menu.

Room 39 – 8am-3pm and 5pm-9pm

A 39th street staple for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Room 39 is as reliable a spot as they come. Always working with seasonal, farm fresh ingredients, there’s something on this menu that everyone will love– your boss, your friends, your family, your date. Everyone loves this place!

Filling Station (Midtown location) – 6:30am-6pm

Each Filling Station location throughout the metro is different but the Midtown location provides the most extensive food menu to accompany its larger space (patio included). Traditional coffeehouse brews are offered alongside substantial lunch options of veggie-packed power bowls, grilled cheese and breakfast sandwiches, and raw juices.

Carniceria y Tortilleria San Antonio – 6am-10pm

This taco shop is not technically a restaurant, as seating is limited, but you can’t beat these authentic street tacos made with house made tortillas. Choose from the many protein options and stop by the condiment bar to dress your tacos to the nines. Check out the market and grab a bag of tamales while you’re there!
