Late summer in KC is a special time. September slips in, and with it– breezy mornings, sunny afternoons and cool evenings. We’re pleased to report that the latest string of restaurants, bars and coffee shops in KC have put a much-welcome emphasis on enjoying the great outdoors! From patios to sidewalk seating, to large picture windows and easy grab-and-gos– there’s no reason not to soak up every second of the fleeting late summer days!

NOOR’S

A brand new spot dishing up Lebanese food for lunch and dinner, Noor’s is beautifully designed inside the Plexpod building– it’s a welcome addition to the Midtown mix! Enjoy the patio as the cooler weather sets in, and don’t miss their weekly farmers market until the season winds down.

LE CHAMPION

Your Westport wine bar dreams just came true– and it’s a coffee shop in the mornings, too! A day to night cafe serving delicious bites, Le Champion is a prefect spot to post up with a laptop or your ladies and spend a whole day sipping. The breezeway brick patio is truly the ideal spot to post up for as long as possible.

Cafe corazón brookside

The latest in a long line of beloved locations, Cafe Corazón is serving up the same cafe culture they’re beloved for, now in Brookside. With all the tasty pastries your heart could desire, espresso beverages, yerba mate and more teas to choose from– plus cocktails, wine and empanadas if you care to stay for the evening! Sidewalk seating and a darling alley offer plenty of room for enjoying the outdoors.

EARL’S PROVISIONS

The folks at Earl’s Provisions are now slinging sides and sandwiches next door. With plenty to choose from– egg salad, potato salad, pasta salad, you name it– as well as pre-packageed entrees, bottles of wine, and gifts– it’s a great spot to load up for a picnic, or you can enjoy your haul right on site with their abundance of sidewalk seating!

SELAH Lounge + klah

Slip into spa-like bliss as you sip on matcha at Selah Lounge. This new addition to the West Bottoms is the partner cafe to Klah, KC’s first bathhouse. Beauty, form and function were at the forefront of this buildout– pay them a visit and be transported to vacation land! Enjoy the beautiful light filtering through the antique windows, or get your beverage to go and stroll around.

zen donkey farms wellness cafe

A welcome addition to the Fairway shops, Zen Donkey is serving their signature juices in their first ever store front. New to their menu are a wide array of smoothies, salads, and grab-and-go breakfast bites. Their unwavering commitment to quality produce is the same as ever, and it’s a real treat to get to experience it in community! Stand on the sidewalk and chat, or take your juice to go and stroll through the newly refinished pedestrian tunnel running from the shops to the neighborhoods nearby.

NORTHEAST PIZZA

The Northland has a new slice, and it’s big on flavor! With New York style pizza in casual parlour digs, Northeast Pizza is making a play for big flavors. In addition to all the classic combos, you’ll find some creative combos on rotation– like vodka sauce pizza and philly cheesesteak pizza. They’ve got a patio on the side of the restaurant for enjoying on-site, but I prefer grabbing a box to go enjoy the abundance of parks nearby!

CRU

Another Brookside sidewalk staple, Cru brings European patio culture to KC. With their extensive wine list, happy hour, and recently launched Tuesday evening Girls dinners, their signature black and white tables and wicker chairs are full most evenings with diners soaking up the bliss of dining outdoros.

IGNACIO

From the creators of the famous Caramelo tortillas, Ignacio has made their home inside Garden House Cafe, right behind Sagebrush– who thoughtfully added some sidewalk seating so you can enjoy your tacos outside with a margarita in hand! The tacos are some of the best I’ve ever eaten, thanks to the melt in your mouth tortillas. Juicy steak, flavorful salsas, crispy melted cheese… they’re a real treat. Check their Instagram (@ignacio.kck) for their hours, which are subject to change– but generally, you can catch them on Tuesday evenings and weekends!

ZERO ZERO PASTA

What could be dreamier than dinner in a Westside parklet? Zero Zero Pasta’s latest expansion took them from the sidewalk to the street, with a charming and intimate seating arrangement that feels like an Italian summer. We all know and love their delicate handmade pastas and decadent sauces, and the growing dinner menu offers delicious appetizers like arancini and tomato burrata salad in addition to after dinner treats like tiramisu and Basque cheesecake. Patio seating is first come, first served.

FAIRWAY CREAMERY WESTSIDE

Fairway Creamery’s latest outpost is an homage to the neighborhood the owner grew up in. A tiny space packed with sweet flavors, it’s the ideal after dinner treat to enjoy while you walk through the Westside or chill on their sidewalk tables. Hot tip: order the cold brew shakes, made in collaboration with Goat Hill next door, and enjoy it on their parklet patio!
