In February, the Northland was graced with the opening of Wild Flour Baking Company, a cutesy little community hangout in Downtown Parkville, Missouri. Open Wednesday through Sunday,  you can pick up delicious bakery items, custom orders, and caffeine between 7am and 2pm.

When you first walk into the space, You are met with a case of goodies directly in front of you. Menu boards are lit up behind the wide counter, a backdrop to sweet breads, muffins, and any other sweet treats that may be in stock.

To your left upon entering Wild Flour, you will see a few cozy sitting spaces. Get cozy on the couch, cowork or chat at a four top, or read in the corner. The stained glass is absolutely beautiful, in a room that is flooded with natural light.

If you cut around the side of the ordering counter, you will find a couple of other open spaces to find a fun seat in. Plants adorn the white walls, making the space blend into the greenery just outside. The simple and updated lighting, seating, and mirrors make the space incredibly inviting, and easy to read or work quietly in.

The space is family friendly. As you walk up to what was once a home in the area, you notice a nice little setup on the front porch to sit on a nice day. If you can’t find an open short top for the children inside, there are high top chairs near the pickup counter, right next to easily accessible ice water.

By the time you think this place couldn’t get any cuter, you notice they have a rotating coffee menu boasting delightful flavors. I was lucky enough to indulge in a hot honey lavender espresso, which was the perfect way to welcome spring on a nice Thursday afternoon.

The Wild Flour Baking Company website boasts savory kolaches, decadent cinnamon rolls, delicious protein bites, baked oatmeal, sweet muffins, coffee, and other delicious items available daily. Since it is a bakery, first and foremost, you can custom order a variety of different cookies, bars, cheesecake bites, and cakes.

Check them out at 307 Main St. in Parkville next time you swing through town. It’s quite a cozy, special place.
